Tandem at Ten
A Festival of Words

It’s our 10th birthday this year — can you believe it! We want to celebrate by sharing the Tandem stage with some bold new voices. We’re looking for two emerging, female-identifying or non-binary playwrights (no more than one professional production) to join our Festival of Words this September at the Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. This one-night-only festival combines many written art forms — and to mark ten years in Scottish theatre, we’re pledging to work with ten new artists in a variety of ways.
- Original work that has not been professionally produced, responding to the themes of growth, transformation and time.
- Plays from Scottish writers, or writers based in Scotland.
- A script that requires no more than 3 actors.
- One 10-minute script per playwright (roughly 10 pages).
- A brief bio, including why you’re right for this project (no more than 400 words).
- Prop-light stories.
- Stories that require little to no set.
- Have your work staged at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, brought to life by a professional creative team.
- Work alongside a supportive community of artists.
- Receive 2 hours of mentoring throughout the project from the Tandem team.
